Service: 5 star AWESOME! The waiters are super busy but they care about their customers + make sure that they are meeting your needs
Price: $$ – It really depends, Its an AYCE place, so if you eat lots, it can be a $ sign, haha
In the Bay Area, we have tons and tons of hot pot places that serves the typical broth + ayce meat + veggies. I’ve heard about this new place and wanted to give it a try since their gimmick is a bit different than other places. They start off your hot pot experience with a “Chicken dry pot” which is basically a Spicy Chicken pot with lots of flavors meddling in your mouth. I would highly recommend this place if you like the idea of hot pot but wanted to add a little twist to your mouth.
The Chicken pot is nice and spicy with full of flavor. The portion is not really big so it is more of a appetizer before you wait for the real course to come. Once you are done with all the chicken, the waiters will add a broth into the same pot for you to start your hot pot.
They have a good selection of meat and vegetables for an AYCE place
We especially liked their fish paste things, it seems to be that it is home made at the location. It is not super doughy and you definitely can still taste the fish.
That is all the meat we were chopping on! It’s nicely and thin cut! Dip it in your self served and self picked sauce, your ready to go!

When you are traveling with kids, I have mentioned that it is best to travel light. For cheap flights, you probably would encounter layovers so it is very wise to carry less items.
For my trip to Tokyo, I have a 25 hours lay over @ Beijing. Since handling 2 toddlers is already a heavy load. I definitely recommend having everything packed in one luggage. Even if you have to check in one big luggage, do it. Since a hand carry would most likely not be enough space to put your baby items.
I’ve made sure I’ve done research. Most airports where there are airlines with long layovers, they will have this paid service to have your luggage stalled at the airport for a fee so you can be cleared free while you wanderlust in the country for 25 hours. I’ve checked that Beijing airport has this service for 50 RMB per day which is definitely worth it for us. I would recommend doing that and having a backpack to just put 1 days worth of cloth and necessity while your out and about.
This will definitely make your travels easier as hauling a luggage around Asia can be very crowded and dangerous for your little ones. I like to have more clear room to push my stroller and not worry about my luggage.
Depending on which terminal you get out from, here is good link provided by the airport to guide you to the storage service area. Check it out if you are going to be going to Beijing. I know Shanghai also have this service. If you want to find out about other airports, feel free to send me a message and I can check!
thanks for reading about my little advise!

Service: not super duper, but it is bearable. I come here really for the food. Don’t expect much.
If you like Chinese street style food. You need to give this place a try. It is super cheap and super good. You see lots of regular foreign students coming here on a daily basis. The average wait time is about 30 mins to 1 hour. It is super popular among locals. It is a restaurant with bunch of skewers. Lots of meat and good portions of side dishes.
They don’t really speak English, so you may want to bring a Chinese speaking person to go with you. It is not a very visible restaurant. In fact, it don’t even look like a restaurant from the outside. They have blinds covering everything. Once you get in, you will feel as if you arrived to China. It’s not really a clean place for those who really care to eat at somewhere that is clean. It’s more of the type where there are table settings and your sitting on the streets eating street food; this is really what skewers are all about in China.
Picture of my daughter before we went to snack. She was a happy camper haha
you order these little lamb skewers, it is about 60 cents each. We usually get a bunch at once, because its super yummy and it is really bite size. You can go through many sticks without noticing that it is all finish! oh yea, it is really good with some beer as well!
The cucumber is marinated with sauce and garlic. Your mouth will smell stinky afterwards but it is super super yummy and crunchy! This comes out before the skewer, so you can nibble while waiting
They have these yum seafood. Juicy and piping hot when it comes out. BBQ style the Chinese way. It’s really good.
You also have lots of options to have dishes steam in aluminum foil then put no the grill. The steam will create water which leaves certain items better that way.
This place don’t have high reviews on yelp, but probably because they didn’t pay for advertisement! haha! but don’t let that stop you from going. It really is for the heart of soul. For those who really know and ate skewers in China before. This place is good for a midnight snack and for dinner. Most people take skewers as beer food but I can eat it anytime! IT IS THAT GOOD TO ME!

Don’t we all love caffeine? If not, that is fine we have lots of non caffeine selection and pastries to please you. I’ve stumble upon this little gem on my way to hiking. They have regular good espressos and coffee. But if you are looking for some variety, they have lavender latte, honey rose latte, almond latte to name a few. The aroma and ambiance is just so soothing with their music on. I can sit there all day with my laptop and sip on my coffee with a bite of pastry.
I think their espresso is super strong and good. It is all over europe. When I lived in London and Norway, Illy was everywhere and I hide out in those shops for hours to get my homework done + calm myself.
I love how their coffee is in tin cans so it would stay fresh and seal the coffee in better than the paper bags. I always take some home with me for my morning coffee run.
you can see they have a wide selection of pastry and good. Don’t be shy on trying some. The servers are really nice here. You can have them toast up or warm something for you if you like it warm. There are many sweet treats and savory bites. So it really do satisfy everyone. You can really be here for the whole day eating a pastry in the morning and having a sandwich for lunch! haha
They have super clean and nice decor here. I love their little espresso cups and I find these super cute as they have drawing and art pieces from famous people and country. It is literally all over their shop! you can always pick one up. I use to collect these at home. I would buy one from each country I visit where I see illy!
ha! Just in case you don’t see. They have the big one right in front of the store and inside way in the back for picture posing!
of course I got a shot of myself with these!
So long for now, thanks for reading. Please share and like my post! I will continue to share more of my foodie experience with everyone.

Are you looking for some yummy cheap finds of filling lunch?! I love this place! I’ve stopped by this place after a long hike and decided to get their lunch special. It was a pork chop dish with gravy + Free Milk Tea + Free pot sticker + Free soup.
I love the word Free! It just makes everything taste better. It was a good start of my meal to be served hot soup + a pot sticker before my main dish came. It is not a fancy place but it does justice to your tummy.
The pot sticker was piping hot which is how I like them. The bottom was nice and crispy while the inside is hot with some meat and veggy! The soup is nice and warm with really soft carrots boiling.
My main dish is this gravy porkchop rice! OH lord it was yummy. The pork chops else where is usually fried/ panfried but this one seemed like it was roasted and roasted tender. It falls apart into pieces easily and its super smooth. People with poor teeth can still eat this ahah. They also don’t shy away from putting more gravy on the dish. LOVE IT!
The other yummy ox tail dish.
This is also one of the favorites for people who regularly dine here. So I had to give it a try, and oh my god! It is so tender and juicy! The dish was super savory and the amount was generous! Sometimes, the beef may be too hard to chew on and would not taste good, but the tendon and meat in this dish was superb! MUST TRY
You definitely don’t leave this place hungry because it is a really filling restaurant. I think it has exist for quite a long time, so there really isn’t any fancy decoration or renovation. It really is about the good food and that is about it. Come eat and go kind of style. Fast and nice. While I was eating, I felt like this was a real genuine neighborhood type of storefront since it seems like everyone knew each other. The waiters called most of the parties by its name and always asked if they needed more! It’s such a homey and happy restaurant find in Chinatown SF.
Come give it a try for yourself and let me know what you think of this place.
Thanks for reading & I’ll continue to share more of my foodie experience with you !
Traveling is fun and packing is not.
Since I have little kids travelling with me, I always always want to emphasize on packing as little as possible. I hate how my in laws and parents would pack SO MANY items that are really unnecessary while travelling. My husband always complain because if they packed many items, it will end up being us carrying it; even if they say that they will, unless your cold heart and won’t help the old senior citizens out. Haha, actually my husband sometimes would purposely not help so that they will understand not to bring so much the next time.
I recalled going on a trip with my mother in law for a weekend. She brought so many items, it wouldn’t fit in one bag. My husband told her that it should be no more than one bag so we can travel light. We need our hands and energy to be focused on the kids. She didn’t listen, brought a few bags and it was just a hassle trying to carry everything and watch the kids. She would always say to us, “I don’t have much items, its all packed for your kids.” We often get annoyed of this response. In conclusion, there goes lots of toys, cloths, things we really don’t need into the suitcase. CLUTTER THAT IS. which makes it really hard to find anything when we unpack and makes packing everything up a whole lot of time wasted.
HERE COMES TO BEAUTY OF PACKAGING ORGANIZERS!! WOOHOO.
I’ve bought these amazing little organizing packets that allows you to fit everything tightly together and not feel like a mess! The method I find the most useful to maximize space is by rolling the cloths.
Reasons to fold cloths by rolling:
- you can easily find your cloths without have to spread out everything
- very neat
- space maximization
I highly recommend buying a few of these and just limit 1-2 of these per person so we know how much we bring along the trip. Plus it makes finding things really much easier. You really want to save space to bring home goodies + you want your hands to be free to carry the kids and watch over them.
It’s really dangerous when you travel and let your kids run around at a location that your not familiar with. Things and accidents happen just within mere seconds and there is no “sorry” that can turn back time. I get really paranoid and would make sure my kids are next to me the whole time. They always have their hands held by my side or they would be pulling my shirt to make sure we are all connected together. It is definitely turning on my mama bear binoculars; better safe than sorry.
I know there are higher priced packing cubes out there, I really chose the cheap one from Daiso as it serves its purpose! But, if you do want to go more high class and fancy. My cousin bought ones from this website and I’ve heard great things about it. You can check them out yourself.
I’ve been applying to Kindergarten for my oldest daughter as she will soon be entering. I’m new to schools and have found it quite confusing at times. I wanted to share with you what most schools have told me to prep for my child. Hopefully this will help yours to be on track or use it as a guidance
NOTE THIS IS THINGS YOUR CHILD SHOULD KNOW BEFORE THEY ENTER INTO A CLASSROOM- or you can simply start working on these aspects.
- Count from 1-20
- Write numbers 1-20
- Read & write all Alphabet
- Know how to sound out short words
- Know how to sound out the Alphabet
- Memorize home address
- memorize phone number (parents number or an emergency contact number)
- Trace and color pictures
- write own name
- addition + subtraction with numbers 1 to 10
- know her birthday
- listen to story without interruption
- tidy up after himself/herself
- recognize Shapes and Sizes
This is the information I’ve received. They are going to have an assessment before they enter into class. This is to make sure that the kids are broken down into classes for their proper level. I thought this was only something private schools do, but I guess wrong since my child is going to be attending public school and do need to take an entry assessment.
I’ve search for some good sites to help prep your child. Feel free to use these as references.

Price: $$ for ice cream
Service: Friendly and lots of sampling!
Who don’t like sweets and extravagant flavors?! I love how they have seasonal flavors and condiments. I chose the Honey Lavender today, if you do like Lavender items this will please you. The aroma is awesome. Once you walk into the store, you can smell the sweetness of the waffle cones in the making! You need to come and give this new place a try. It’s fairly new in Hayes Valley, but I know there are a few more other stores around the bay area + Seattle.
The ice cream is definitely on the sweeter side.
You can do a bunch of tastings before you decide on your favorite. If you really just love a few, they have the tasting flight which they allow you to pick about 3 flavors to indulge. I would recommend the tasting if you have a group of people, with your kids or just because you love ice cream.
The service may be a bit on the slower side because people do ask for samples, so there may be those few who tastes many flavors. If you don’t have much time, they have the prepacked pints in the fridge for you to take on the go.
